Sustainable Agriculture – The fifth episode of our film series “Odenwald in Transition” is now online.

As the year draws to a close, there’s something special once again: Episode 5 of the series “Odenwald in Transition – Nature, People, and Climate” is now online.
This episode focuses on agriculture, a sector that is both affected by climate change and central to sustainable solutions.
The new episode takes viewers to the Frey family farm near Miltenberg, an ecologically managed mixed farm. The family consistently prioritizes environmentally friendly, animal-friendly, and resource-conserving farming practices, demonstrating how traditional work can be combined with modern, sustainable approaches.
A particular focus is on the use of agroforestry systems. By integrating trees and shrubs into farmland, soil and microclimate are positively influenced while biodiversity is promoted. The interplay of crop cultivation, livestock farming, and woody plant structures illustrates how agriculture can be shaped for the future.
At the same time, the episode addresses the growing pressures on farms from changing climate conditions and extreme weather events, highlighting why innovative approaches are necessary to ensure sustainable agriculture in the years to come.
