What are the advantages of SPIR STAR® ultra-high-pressure thermoplastic hoses?

  • Resistance: Our hoses have a high resistance to chemicals and gases. In addition, the products are UV and seawater resistant.
  • Wear: Due to the materials used, wear of the outer cover of our hoses can be significantly reduced.
  • Weight: Compared to rubber hose products, the weight of SPIR STAR® thermoplastic ultra-high-pressure hoses is significantly lower.
  • Volumetric expansion: Our hoses have a very low volumetric expansion.
  • Customized products: We are happy to offer our hoses in various colors and in lengths up to 4,000 m in order to suit your needs.
  • Working pressure: We are happy to offer hoses up to 4,000 bar / 58,000 psi working pressure.

Are any of the hose types in your product range certified according to DIN EN 18292?

Yes, we offer a number of certified hoses in our range.

Yes, SPIR STAR® offers hose types certified according to this standard.

Can test certificates be issued for every hose assembly?

Yes, each completed hose assembly is pressure tested before shipment. A corresponding test certificate can be issued upon request.

What is the recommended safety factor in waterjet applications?

SPIR STAR® recommends a safety factor of 2.5:1 in relation to DIN EN 1829-2.

Are there accessories that prevent kinking behind the sleeve?

We are happy to offer you a suitable kink protection.

What is the advantage of a hose securing grips?

The hose securing grips prevents the hose from whipping and keeps it in position.

What to pay attention to before using the hose assembly?

Please note:

  • Handle ultra-high-pressure hoses with extreme care. SPIR STAR® ultra-high-pressure hoses are steel-wire reinforced hoses with a thermoplastic inner core and should be treated with the same care as pressure vessels.
  • Before using hoses for waterjet cutting applications, refer to the Recommendations for Practical Use of Manually Operated High-Pressure Waterjet Cutting Equipment (WaterJet Technology Association (Water Jet Technology Association [+1/314-241-1445, www.wjta.org]).
  • Inspect the hoses for damage, kinks, or wear before each use.
  • Inspect the hose fittings and threads for wear, rust, cracks, and other damage that could make them dangerous projectiles.
  • Before using ultra-high-pressure hoses, familiarize yourself with their working and operating pressures.
  • Use only clean, filtered water to extend the useful life of the hoses. Do not use water containing sulfur, as sulfur will corrode stainless steel.
  • Clean and empty the hoses after use and roll them up. Soap and water are very good for cleaning.
  • Always wear protective gloves, goggles and clothing when working with ultra-high-pressure hoses or high-pressure spray guns.

Please avoid:

  • Do not use ultra-high-pressure hoses with a damaged outer cover.
  • Do not use ultra-high-pressure hoses that have kinks.
  • Do not use hoses with blisters in the outer cover.
  • Do not fall below the permissible bending radius. Be sure not to exceed the permissible operating pressure of your hose.
  • Do not drive over or crush the hose with heavy vehicles.
  • Do not use a hose with corroded or leaking connections. Replace it immediately.
  • Do not use hoses that have been exposed to chemicals or overheating.
  • Avoid contaminated water or water containing sulfur compounds. Tests have shown that hoses fail faster when water from chemical factories or refineries is used.
  • Do not bend the hose over scaffolding or pull heavy machinery with it.
  • Do not let the hose hang down from high facades.
  • Do not apply torque to the hose.
  • Do not expect ultra-high-pressure or hydraulic hoses to last forever.

How many pulses does hose type XY achieve in our internal pulse test?

All SPIR STAR® hoses must pass a rigorous qualification test, which includes an impulse test, before being released for sale. We will be happy to provide you with further information here.

Can we issue a CE certificate of conformity (according to the Machinery Directive or Pressure Equipment Directive) for our hose assemblies? Can we attach a CE conformity mark to the hose?

Our ultra-high-pressure hoses do not fall within the scope of the Machinery or Pressure Equipment Directive. For this reason, we cannot issue a CE certificate of conformity or provide the hose with a CE marking.

Can we put a CE conformity mark on the hose?

If the hoses are installed by the customer in a machine for which a CE marking is mandatory, the manufacturer of the machine must ensure that all requirements of the Machinery Directive and the applicable standards are met and affix the appropriate marking.
